100 Years through the Eyes of the Photographers from the Collection of the Union of Czech Photographers
It is a wandering exhibition of historical photographs prepared in cooperation with NIPOS, the national information and advisory center, for 100 years’ anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia. Ten photographic panels bring closer separate parts of one-hundred-year history concentrated around one decisive moment – marker: inception of an independent republic (1918), events connected with the Munich conference (1938), end of the second WW, February (1948) coup d’ état, Prague Spring (1968) and a subsequent invasion of the Warsaw Treaty army, the death of protest of Jan Palach, foundation of Charta 77, funeral of Jan Patočka, the philosopher, velvet revolution (1989) and a new life in democracy. They depict not only dramatic moments and persons connected with the given period, but they try to catch an atmosphere of the period, transitions of the environment, living style, poetics of a daily life.
